Trandal is an old farming settlement in Hjørundfjord, without road connections to the outside world, and is surrounded by the mighty Sunnmøre Alps. One has to use either ferry or boat to come here, although the very spriest and fit may choose to hike over the mountains. It is easy to become enchanted by this beautiful place which lies in the middle of what must be allowed to be called the world’s most beautiful fjord, the Hjørundfjord. Here you’ll find an idyllic location where one can just relax and have a good time.
For those who go mountain-hiking
One can go over the mountains from several places, but the most usual way is going over from Sykkylven. If you find that you just can’t manage the final stretch down to Trandal and further on to the Christian Gaard pub at Indre Trandal, you can just call to be picked up by us. We have an ATV, tractor, and cars which can transport both you and your equipment safely. Naturally, we also provide transportation in the other direction. Of
course, we appreciate being notified in good time.
The easiest way to come to Trandal is to take the ferry from either Sæbø, Standal or Leknes. The trip from Aalesund includes two ferries: Solevåg – Festøy and
Standal – Trandal and it takes about 1 hour by car.
Christian Gaard has their own boat that can be requested at tel. +47 907 20 172 or +47 991 06 659
Hjørundfjord also has a community passenger boat available, appropriately named «MS Hjørundfjord«.
